We opened our doors in 1922 when the economy was robust and carried our customers through the great depression of the 1930’s, working side-by-side with them to ensure trust, loyalty, and continued coverages were maintained during this challenging period. Times change, but values never do.
The values of the business have been proudly maintained by agency principals/brokers Myron Brown, Fred Meyer, Art Brown, Van Meyer, Richard “Dick” Tranum, Jeff Tranum and Jim Cook. As the agency has transitioned over the years, so has it’s name - from Brown & Meyer, then to Brown, Meyer & Tranum, to Meyer and Cook, LLC and in 2006 to Meyer and Cook, LLC, dba Brown & Meyer & Cook and dba Sam Boone Insurance.
Our first office building was located on the end of the block from our present location, right next to The Big Store grocery store. We moved into our present quarters, which was the original home of the Bank of Alex Brown, in 1959.
